Hello Listeners, readers, and writers! It’s time for our next Garage Fiction weekly prompt (actually, it was time a couple of days ago but shhhhh!). Olivia from the team would like to give everyone nightmares with her prompt idea: Maman by Louise Bourgeois. Our deadline for this submission is Friday, February 17th.
So… uh… here we go… Maman:
Maman is a steel and marble sculpture of a spider of towering scale and is the largest of a series created in the latter half of the 1990s. Standing at nine metres (thirty six feet) high, it’s of such a monumental size that it can only be installed outdoors, or inside a building of industrial dimensions.
What does Olivia have to say about it?
“It’s bloody terrifying. When I saw it, I almost didn’t dare and walk underneath it.”
So, writers of the world, what do you say? Are you up for the challenge? Hit us with your best horror!
Hit Olivia with your best horror. Not because we’re afraid of your… (shudder) …long-leggy, creepy-haired, bulgy, liquefy-your-insides creature tales. Uh-uh. Noooo. It’s just that we’d like to honour Olivia with these (horrifying) gifts all the more! Yes, that’s the reason.
Until next time, good luck with your words. We’ll see you in the garage (make sure you do a spider-sweep beforehand).
