So I recently got a new fountain pen and I’ve been asking other writers to send me their favorite passages of fiction to copy by hand. Of course, being writers (who don’t listen well), most of them sent me passages from essays, poems and plays instead. Oh well.
Here’s one as requested by Vishal C., in the Facebook Writers Group, “The Write Life Community”.
I ended up copying this one out five times before I got one that didn’t have a mistake. I don’t regret it though. It’s a powerful piece of philosophy and a good friend of mine has mentioned Meditations multiple times to me in the years I’ve known him. It’s on my long list of books to read.
Anyway, there’s a particular line in here that absolutely touched me every time I wrote it out: “possessing a share of the divine.” It really does come down to that at the end of the day and yet we manage to forget it every day too.
